Review: Alpine iLX-507 Digital Receiver

When my audio system in my 2008 Toyota Sienna died, I looked into replacing it with an OEM system, but it was challenging to find one for an older vehicle.

I looked around, decided to replace it with an Alpine iLX-507 Digital Multimedia Receiver, as it was well regarded and supported wireless Apple CarPlay and HD-Audio.

I found a well-rated auto installer nearby, Car Audio Express, and had them install it. I considered doing it myself using Crutchfield, but I did not feel comfortable taking apart the old panels in my 2008 Toyota Sienna.

Lowlights

• Slow firmware updates
• Expensive
• Sometimes, Apple CarPlay does not start until a reboot
• I would have preferred a knob for volume control
