Windsurfing Coyote Point

Today, after checking the wind forecast (promising 15-26 knots of wind), I decided to start my windsurfing season at Coyote Point, near San Francisco Airport.

When I arrived around 2:30 p.m., the wind was up, but hardly anyone was there. I started to rig my gear: an Ezzy 5.4m Transformer sail with a Mistral Flow 276 board. A bit later, a few kitesurfers launched and were doing well.

I wanted to use my GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition to record my session but got an SD Error. It turned out later that GoPro has a bug in their recorder that kills 64GB Sandisk cards. So I was unable to record anything. What a disappointment!

The wind died after I left around 3:20 p.m., and I had to swim back to shore. I considered calling it a day, but then the wind picked up. It started blowing so hard that all of the kite surfers left.

A few windsurfers on small boards went out, and they were doing well. I decided to give it another go and launched. The wind was strong, and the waves were more massive (3-5 feet). I got some nice jumps and had a great time surfing around. The wind started to pick up even more, and I was getting overpowered.

I decided to return to the shore and had an exhilarating ride to shore with the waves. It was a blast!
