Windsurfing Coyote Point

Today, I opened the 2017 Windsurfing season with a great session at Coyote Point, near San Francisco. It's one of my favorite local spots, along with Crissy Field, Rio Vista Powerlines, and Waddell Creek.

The iWindsurf website reported 20 knots of wind, gusting to 30 knots, and I was excited to experience the fantastic bump'n'jump sailing again.

When I arrived at 3:00pm, a few windsurfers and kiters were out, and the wind was mighty. I stopped by the Boardsports shop to see about demoing a windsurfing board, but there was very little to choose from in smaller wave boards. I would like liter Naish, JP Wave, or a Hi-tech board.

I ended up rigging my trusty Ezzy 4.7m Transformer with a Mistral Ecstacy 84-liter board. My first ride was very tiring as the conditions were very gusty. I was getting launched constantly.

I filmed a high-def GoPro4 Silver video while riding my board.

I spent about two hours windsurfing, and I was exhausted! I must be out of shape since I felt like my arms were falling off. The chop was high, and going out required constant vigilance to prevent being launched. The return ride was much smoother!
