eFoil Kauai

In the morning, Alex was scheduled to try e-foiling with Benny (eFoil Kauai) in the Nawiliwililli Small Boat Harbor. Benny was planning to teach Alex how to operate the Lift eFoil so that he could understand how to either wing foil or surf foil in the future.

At around 9:00 am, I drove Alex to the Nawiliwili Small Boat Harbor (about 10 minutes away by car) and immediately noticed Benny with the two Lift eFoils in his truck. After Benny unloaded the two eFoils, he added the large battery packs to each of the eFoils and carried them to the launching pad on the water.

Alex put on a floatation vest and a wireless helmet with 2-way communication. This way, Alex would be able to hear all of Benny's instructions. Benny explained some of the basics of the eFoil, and then they were off the dock, gliding prone on the eFoils.

I followed them (taking photos with the Nikon P900 Zoom).

Here is a short video clip of Alex foiling:

The lesson lasted 60 minutes (from 9:30am to 10:30am), during which Alex learned to fly the foil. Alex did very well and mastered the basics of controlling the eFoil during the flight.

Alex enjoyed learning to fly above the water and should be ready to try winging next.
