A Windy Day at Coyote Point

After checking the iwindsurf.com pro forecast, I decided to wing foil at Coyote Point in San Mateo.

On arrival at Coyote Point (a 45-minute drive from San Jose) via US-101, the wind was showing as 12 knots. I decided to wait until the wind picked up. At around 14:30, the wind really picked up.

I decided to rig my brand-new Duotone Slick SLS 5.0m wing

    Wing Foiling Gear

  • Board: Naish Hover LE Carbon Ultra 95
  • Foil: Armstrong HS Foil Kit 1250cm
  • Wing: Duotone Slick SLS 5.0m
  • Harness: Dakine Flywing (L)
  • Wetsuit: Feral 4mm Backzip Large Wetsuit
I winged for 80 minutes, reaching a maximum speed of 15 knots using the smaller 1,250 cm Armstrong front wing. The wind was very gusty with bursts of 30 knots in the channel. I had a fantastic time and really enjoyed this session. At around 16:00, I sailed back and de-rigged. The wind had dropped off, and I was starting to feel a bit tired.

Here is a GoPro Hero 11 Black Mini recording of my session:

After returning home, Alex and I went out for dinner at Doppio Zero in Campbell, as I was ravenous.
We sat outside, enjoying the beautiful day, and watching people and cars. We saw a few Ferraris and many old muscle cars.

We ordered the following items from the menu:
  • Drinks: Squeeze Blood Orange Draft Beer, Sparkling Water
  • Salad: Pera Salad (Arugula, D'anjou Pear, Goat Cheese, Pumpkin Seeds)
  • Pizza: Doppio Zero (burrata, Prosciutto di Parma, arugula, shaved Parmigiano Reggiano)
The Squeeze Blood Orange Draft was not bad (though I still prefer Apple Cider). I liked the Doppio Zero pizza.
