London Calling

On Friday, September 03, 2021, we woke up at 4:00 am to prepare for our 45-minute drive to San Franciso Airport (SFO) for Alex's one-stop flight to London's Heathrow Airport by way of New York (JFK).

Alex was excited to begin his college education, starting his first semester at Northeastern University in London, with N.U. in the London program.

When we arrived at the airport, we saw many other students (wearing Northeastern insignia) and parents checking in at American Airlines. While I was parking the Toyota Sienna in the short-term parking garage, Alex checked in his large suitcase and printed his boarding pass.

Because of COVID-19 restrictions, Alex had to pass a COVID-19 test (which he took on Wednesday (with negative results reported on Thursday). At around 6:00, Alex walked through the security and wished him well.

When he landed at JFK in New York City, he had to transfer to another flight to London's Heathrow Airport.

After he landed in London, he was taken (along with all of his N.U.in London classmates) to their assigned housing at Chapter Spitalfields, located at:

    9 Frying Pan Alley, London E1 7HS, U.K.

Here are some photos from the location.

Alex had to make lots of adjustments to his new life in London. He had to learn to cook breakfast and lunch, do laundry, find ways to get around London using the Oyster Card, and attend classes. And discover the area.

Hopefully, he will get the time to explore London and make life-long friends.
