Visiting BMW Welt and Museum

In the morning, we headed for the last time to the Dorfladen Ehenbichler Bakery for our last breakfast in Reutte. I had a cappuccino with a cream cheese pastry, Alex had a cookie, and Inna had a sandwich.

After checking out of our room and paying our hosts, we headed straight for Munich. At first, the road was narrow and twisty, but we eventually merged onto the autobahn (when we crossed over from Austria into Germany). On the 4 to 6-lane autobahn, I drove at 150-160 km/hour (or roughly 90-100 miles/hour). The road was fantastic, and we arrived in Munich around 10:45 am.

Our first stop was the BMW Welt - a showcase for the latest BMW cars and motorcycles. At BMW Welt, we got to sit in many vehicles and on many bikes.

Alex really enjoyed sitting behind the wheel of some cars. Unfortunately, some vehicles were locked – this was silly to do in a showroom. Everyone enjoyed sitting in various BMW cars and on multiple BMW motorcycles.

After walking around both floors and looking at some of the bikes, we explored the BMW Museum.

Much history was presented about the founding of BMW as an aircraft engine manufacturer in World War I and the slow transition to manufacturing motorcycles and automobiles. Many historical vehicles, including some of the first BMW engines, motorcycles, and cars, were displayed. Elvis’ BMW 507 was also presented last. Alex and I really enjoyed the BMW Museum.
