Getting wet at Schloss Hellbrunn

In the morning, we woke up and were treated to a delicious breakfast at our Tobhartbauer residence. We enjoyed the freshly baked rolls, hot tea, fresh cheeses, and cold cuts.

After breakfast, we drove to Salzburg, stopping by Schloss Hellbrunn (just south of Salzburg). The drive was not very long - about an hour on the finely paved Austrian roads.

It was built in 1613–19 by Markus Sittikus von Hohenems, Prince-Archbishop of Salzburg, and named for the "clear spring" that supplied it. It is made famous by a large number of trick water fountains.

We looked forward to getting wet since it was a scorching July day. We did not have to wait very long!

The grounds of Schloss Hellbrunn are in the refined Italian style and are lovely. Only group tours are allowed for the fountain portion of the tour, so we had to stick together with our group (and not wander off by ourselves).

After getting tricked by the trick fountains, we visited the palace, where we learned about the history of the palace.

Alex got tricked by one of the fountains and got a bit wet! One of the fountains also tricked me(just when I thought I was safe).

After finishing the fountain tour, we explored the extensive gardens while Alex waited. His allergies were acting up, and he was tired from all the walking.

After walking around the extensive gardens and ponds, we decided to explore the Baroque villa, which houses many fine antiques, paintings, and imaginary animals, like this unicorn below:

The villa is lovely inside.

Finishing the tour of Schloss Hellbrunn, we continued our drive to Salzburg.
