Surfing at the Hook

On Sunday, April 25th, we decided to head to Capitola to surf "La Bomba" at The Hook. Even though the forecast predicted rain, Alex was not undeterred. When we arrived at the parking lot, there were lots of spaces available (which is usually a bad sign for waves). However, when we walked to look at the waves in The Hook, we saw beautiful, clean rollers!

Alex was excited, suited up in his Ripcurl wetsuit, and waxed his best Firewire Tomo V4 surfboard.

I took a few photos of Alex around 11:30 a.m., just as the best set was rolling through. Alex caught a wave and rode it mostly straight, as it was a closeout with nowhere to go.

On another wave, he caught the wave but crashed into it. Here is a video of it:

He had a great time surfing for 2.5 hours and was quite tired afterward. We stopped by for lunch at Oren's Hummus Shop in Los Gatos, where he devoured Hummus Beef.
