Burg Eltz Castle, Germany

Today, we drove to the famous Burg Eltz Castle in Germany. Burg Eltz is located above the Moselle River, between Koblenz and Trier.

According to Wikipedia:
Burg Eltz is a medieval castle nestled in the hills above the Moselle River between Koblenz and TrierGermany. It is still owned by a branch of the same family that lived there in the 12th century, 33 generations ago. The Rübenach and Rodendorf families' homes in the castle are open to the public, while the Kempenich branch of the family uses the other third of the castle. The Palace of Bürresheim (Schloss Bürresheim), the Castle of Eltz and the Castle of Lissingen are the only castles on the left bank of the Rhine in Rhineland-Palatinate which have never been destroyed.

The iconic castle is one of the most picturesque and scenic castles ever. We arrived early in the morning (before most other tourists) and enjoyed being one of the first.

Inside the Burg Eltz Castle is an armory with many weapons, fine china, and other historical objects.

After the tour of the armory, we went to visit Burg Eltz's private chamber.

We saw several miniature cannons. We learned that the canon manufacturers would bring small cannons to demonstrate their superior design before manufacturing a full-size version for the buyer.

After the tour, we decided to grab a quick lunch/snack.
