Beach time in Carmel

Today, we decided to enjoy Carmel-by-the-Sea's beautiful, white sandy beaches. We drove on US 101 heading South (we usually take US-17), and this way was much quicker.

When we arrived around noon, Carmel was covered in a light fog. Eventually, the fog lifted, and we enjoyed a beautiful day on the beach. It started out chilly (in the 60 degrees Fahrenheit) but warmed to 70 degrees Fahrenheit once the fog burned off.

I played soccer with Alex while Inna enjoyed the sunshine and reading her Kindle.

After our friends arrived, we took a long stroll on the beach. We walked all the way to the end of the beach and back. We saw many dogs running around and a few surfers trying to surf.

Around 3:00 pm, we decided to head back to Carmel downtown on Ocean Ave and explore some of the Picture Galleries before they closed. We stopped by a few galleries but saw nothing we admired.

For lunch/dinner, we decided to go to the Dametra Cafe. It's one of oCarmel's more reasonably priced establishments that provide excellent quality Greek food at a reasonable price.

Dametra is a tiny cafe, so for our party of 6, we had to wait about half an hour to get a table. The bread and pita slices were freshly made and incredibly delicious.

Alex enjoyed a large pepperoni pizza.

I ordered a cup of Clam Chowder (which was delicious) and a standard Greek salad. The salad was very well prepared.

After our late lunch/dinner, we drove back to San Jose. Traffic around 5:30 pm was a lot heavier.
